What Rugby Is All About

A lot of us dont really know the game rugby let alone understand the game and play

it but to give you a brief overview of what rugby really is then let us start by stating that there are two basic types of rugby. The first one is the league and the second one is the union. There is a huge difference in the rules of regulations between these two types.

Each division of the league and union has their own championships and games. More often than not the typical rugby union game is simply referred to as rugby. The game is played with two opposing players composed of around 13 to 15 players but there are also divisions with only 7 players in one team and this is further called as rugby sevens.

Generally, both rugby and rugby league games last for 80 minutes and are split into two halves making it 35 minutes each half with 10 minutes break time. The game is more similar with the American football than it is to soccer even though rugby players are also allowed to kick the ball anytime during game play not only for penalty and goal kicks.

Roughly stated, rugby is a full contact sport in the absence of the padded uniforms and the head gear. This means that members of both union and rugby league clubs are more vulnerable to accidents and injuries than any other kind of sport. This is the reason why proper training is indicated in all clubs so that players are protected.

Even though players are bound by strict rules during physical contact within the game, this still doesnt mean there will be absence of related sports injuries. Most rugby league clubs often undergo constant training session in order to minimize or even prevent such catastrophic injuries from happening. Mouth guards or commonly known as the mouth piece are mandatory.

Each rugby league clubs have their own predetermined uniforms with mandatory full-colored shirt especially when the opposing team has the same color combination. It is important that you know the rules and regulations not only of the game but also of your own club above everything else.
