What The Slight Edge Philosophy Taught Me About Online Network Marketing

This article is about the slight edge and what this philosophy has taught me about how to effectively grow an online network marketing business. When I was first introduced to network marketing I was very excited! One of the mentors I was introduced to was Jeff Olson. Jeff Olson wrote a book entitled the Slight Edge.

The cool thing about Jeff was that he was an active distributor in my network marketing company. So whenever I went to any of the corporate events I had the privilege of hearing him speak. The slight edge philosophy in a nutshell simply teaches that little actions done consistently over time will add up to big results and big successes in your life.

When it comes to my network marketing opportunity this meant doing positive activities every day that would build momentum that resulted in new recruits and sales for my business. I read Jeff Olson's book and reread it once a month for 12 months. I took notes and highlighted things and I really got the slight edge philosophy buried deep down in my subconscious.

I remember every day at my full-time job when it was lunch time making myself go to the local mall or a local department store and hand out as many business cards and prospect to as many people as I could. I would end up getting out about 10 to 12 lead every single week that I would try to follow-up with and set appointments with. I made some sales but it was inconsistent.

I managed to recruit some but could not build consistency in my downline. However, living the slight edge every day helped me to grow as an entrepreneur and as a business person because when I first started doing this I have very low self image of myself. I remember attending one of our company trainings and learning about "dressing for success." I used to make sure when I would go out into my marketplace that I was dressed for success. I would have my business card's, I would also have my company DVDs/CDs with me so that when I went to the marketplace I would be confident and ready to talk with people.

I actually got pretty comfortable doing this. I'd walk up to people, talk to them and hand out business cards and ask for their name and phone number so I could follow up with them later. When I eventually moved from offline to an online network marketing business the slight edge philosophy still held power in my life because I would make X amount of videos every single day or write x amount of articles every day and the act of doing these activities would generate prospects for my business.

If you do not have a steady influx of prospects for your business your business will fail because there is literally no way that you can make money if you do not have a consistent influx of leads. So again, the slight edge philosophy to me more than anything creates the power of momentum in my business and teaches that simple little activities that may not seem like they matter in the act of doing them matter, because they compound and every day that you do a positive activity for your business it will build so that the next day it becomes easier and builds. In my online network marketing business I can truthfully say that slight edge living is responsible for my business growth and success.
