What To Do If Windows 7 Trial Period Expires?
By June, 2012, Windows 7 market share has increased to 49.9% in the world wide
, according to OPSWAT. More and more people are eager to try Windows 7. But Microsoft only allows 30 days to evaluate Windows 7. After the trial period, the desktop background becomes black, and the activation notification bothers every several hours. Spend a few minutes in several Windows 7 forums, you will easily find that Windows 7 Activation issue is frequently talked about as the hot topic - Windows 7 password reset.
When trial period expires, you have two choices, either buy product key to activate Windows 7 online or by telephone, or find the way to extend the trial period.
Option 1: Purchase Windows 7 product key
If you purchase a Windows 7 license, find your product key sticker on the computer or inside the Windows installation DVD, or in a confirmation e mail if you purchased and downloaded Windows 7 online.
The product key should be formatted like xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx - five sets of five letters and numbers.
If your computer crashed and lost product key, you can recover it by free product key finder program, as easy as Windows password recovery.
Option 2: Extend Windows 7 trial period
There is a command to help you extend the trial period up to three months. Also some extra tweak can extend your Windows 7 trial period to one year. Both are guaranteed useful.
Extend trial period to another 90 days
1. Type "cmd" in the Windows 7 start menu search box, right click on "Command Prompt" and chose "Run as administrator".
2. In the command prompt, type the following command.
slmgr -rearm
3. Immediately the system will prompt for a restart. Restart your computer and check the Windows Activation status in Computer Properties.
The trial period will be longer for another 30 days. You can apply this command only three times, so you can extend your trial period to maximum 90 day by this tip.
Extend trial period to another 240 days
After 90 days and original 30 days, you can edit registry to have another 240 days trial period.
Here is how:
4. Type "regedit" in the start menu search box and hit "Enter". The Registry Editor will open.
Note: You may be prompted for permission to access the registry editor.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionSoftwareProtectionPlatform
6. In the right pane find out the value SkipRearm. Now double click on it and change the value from 0 to 1. Press "OK".
