What To Do If You Go See The 2010 World Cup
If you're planning to watch the world cup 2010 live in South Africa
, you should expect to spend a good amount of time in the lovely city of Johannesburg. Jo-Berg, as the natives like to call it is the hub of South Africa and one of its largest cities. While you're there checking out all the action, why not spend a bit of time checking out some sites too?
When you get bored with football (Okay, who am I kidding, right? But if you just need to let off steam anyway), check out South Africa's glitzy answer to Las Vegas, Sun City. Sun City is located in the sun-drenched Bushveld district and it is surrounded by the tourist area of the Lost City. Sun City, as the Las Vegas of Africa has more than just the typical one arm bandits and roulette tables you'll find in any Indian casino.
It is truly a complete resort experience. You can enjoy a day at the beach at the Valley of the Waves, a man-made wave pool with by a beautiful white sandy beach or try some water sports and rides like sliding down spiraling rides in large rubber rings, or body surfing in the warm water.
And there is even a place to drop off the young ones while you hang out in the casino: Game Zone is an arcade that will keep your kids entertained long past their bed times.
Okay, so you've been to the casino and the time is rapidly approaching to watch the world cup 2010 live in Soccer City. But the kids want to go and see some of the wild life that Africa is so famous for. No problem; we've got you covered. Check out Krugersdorp Game Preserve, located just outside Krugersdorp, about a 30-minute drive from the Johannesburg Central Business area.
This lovely place is perfect for day visitors, even those who just want to come for half a day or for the true animal lover, there are also facilities for sleep over guests. Your kids can thrill to the site of lions, rhinos, giraffe, buffalo, hippos and a whole range of other animal that inhabit the reserve. A snack bar serves light food and there are also picnic areas to while away the time.
So while you may be going to South Africa to watch the World Cup 2010 live and in person, there is so much more to do and see, it's worth taking an extra day or two (or even three) and dropping by some of the incredible sights in and around this amazing city by the sea.
