What To Look For In A Golf Bag
The game of golf relies heavily on two things
, the skill of the golfer and the quality of equipment that he or she is using. Each year new golf clubs, balls and tees enter the market. Each new product boasts an improvement over last years model or perhaps their competitors. Along with this increase in performance comes another increase; the price. With so much of your hard earned money being spent on keeping up with the best equipment, selecting the perfect bag to keep it all safe becomes of the utmost importance. Below are some tips and ideas to help you make the best decision when you are looking to add a new golf bag to your golfing arsenal.
Everyone will seek something different when looking to make this purchase. As golf bags do not pose a direct increase in the quality of your game, the choice on which one to use generally comes down to one of aesthetics. The look, the feel and the ease in which you can transport it to and from each hole.
So lets start with the first deciding factor, carry or pull. Do you like to stay on your feet between each hole or do you and your golfing buddies prefer to use a cart? The carry versions of golf bags are generally less heavy, easier to manage overall, less unwieldy than some of the riding bags. The downside to this ease? Carry bags often present themselves with less options and gizmos for the golfer. This means less pockets and less extras than the heavier alternatives.
The next item to go over is to assess how often you will be out on the
golf course with your bag. While a cheap bag may immediately grab your attention due to its cost, stop to think about how much wear and tear you will be putting on it throughout the seasons. If you know your bag is prone to getting dinged up along the way, consider investing a little money on a bag that is a little more durable. Bags that are crafted from a heavier material usually bear the occasional ding better than cheaper models.
Whats next on the list? Start to think about the quantity of the clubs that you have. If you have quite the assortment that you like to bring out with you on each game, consider purchasing a bag that has many slots for these clubs. Perhaps you only have a few clubs now but plan on buying more in the coming months? Anticipate this too and purchase a bag that will leave you with plenty of room for an increase in numbers.
What other sorts of things will you be planning on adding to your bag? Do you like to carry around an ample amount of tees and extra balls for those lost to sand traps and bunkers? Perhaps you have other items that you like to bring out onto the green with you? Either way, make sure that the golf bag that you are interested in has the appropriate amount of hooks, pockets, zippers and compartments that will best serve your needs.
And last but not least, think about the design. Maybe that edgy bag looks pretty nice in the store but are you going to appreciate it in the same way day in and day out for the next few years when its out on the course? But some thought into what your bag looks like, its going to be with you for quite some time.
