The amount of choices in laptop computers available to you on the marketplace is daunting but it's actually a good thing that there are so many because everyone has different needs. Desktop Replacement Laptops - These laptops are going to big and almost never carried outside of your home. A good desktop replacement has a 17" or larger screen that is Full HD. You also will need one with HDMI and VGA out options so that you can hook your laptop to your HD or normal television set. You should also look into one with a Intel Core 2 Duo processor or higher to ensure you have enough computing power. Lastly make sure you have discrete graphics because that will allow you to game and enjoy blu-ray content better. Be aware that these laptops are seldom under $1000. Ultra-portable Laptops - In this category the best brand right now is ASUS they make the most reliable and visually attractive ultra-portable laptops. When shopping for an ultra-portable battery life is your only real concern. A good battery life time to look for is 7+ hours. Gaming Laptops - If you want a really great gaming machine be ready to shell out some big dollars. The best of best can cost in the $4000 neighborhood, but you get the latest Intel and Nvidia hardware and the fastest memory so it's not like your getting ripped off. When looking for a good gaming laptop make sure it has a discrete graphics card with at least 512MB of video memory. Secondly make sure the processor is at least a Intel Core 2 Duo. Budget Laptops - These laptops are for those that just want something that can let them go online and watch a few YouTube videos and that's it. There are tons of these available. When looking for one of these just try to get one that has at least 3GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive. Some laptops to look for are the Dell Inspiron 15 and the Acer Timeline.About the Author:
