. For him each failure had been a stepping stone to success. Being born in poverty he faced defeat throughout his life but he was never deterred by them. He emerged to be one of the greatest Presidents in world history and is still fondly remembered.
Here was a man who was faced a pertinent decision, splitting the country in two, true civil war and all for a reason he knew was important. He knew it was wrong to keep slaves, to treat people like cattle. All men were created equally. He knew more than anything that he was willing to risk his life and others were willing to risk theirs to fight for what they believe in. It is not an easy task to stand by your convictions and your beliefs; Abraham Lincoln had immense self confidence to do so.
There are times in our lives when we have difficult decisions, decisions that could very well affect other peoples lives as well. But they are decisions that have to be made. Weve all faced them before and if we havent we will. At the end of the day, you have to have integrity, you have to stand up for whats right because if you find yourself justifying what youre doing perhaps theres a reason for it.
