What You Could Experience At Jiuzhai Valley Scenic And Historical Interest Area Of China

The spot was discovered in the 1970s by some woodcutters and was much admired over the next decades

. Consequently, in 1982 it was listed as one of the most important scenic spots in China. In 1992 Jiuzhai Valley became one of China 33 World Heritage sites, including Emei Mountain, Wuyi Mountain, Taishan Mountain, Lushan Mountain National Park and Huangshan Mountain.

There are six scenic spots in the Jiuzhai Valley area: Changhai, Heihai Jianyan, Nuorilang, Shuzheng, and Zharu. Its double waterfalls, snowy peaks, colorful forests and green seas have made Jiuzhai Valley known throughout the world. The area is also enriched by the added charm of Tibetan culture.

Jiuzhai Valley is famous for its complexity of alpine lakes, spectacular waterfalls and splendid vegetation. More than 100 different sizes lakes are scattered in the midst of grand mountains, where the valley echoes with the roar of cliffside cataracts and springs. These lakes of an assortment of colors are called Haizi or Hai by the local Tibetan people. It is these alpine lakes that make Jiuzhai Valley such a remarkable place.

Jiuzhai Valley, therefore, has always enjoyed the reputation of being a Wonder Land on Earth. It abounds in virgin forests, rare flowers, and grasses. Over 140 bird species, including a number of rare species, also inhabit the valley, as well as a number of endangered plant and animal species, including the panda and Sichuan golden monkey. What is more, in the vast primeval forests, all kinds of rare birds and animals are easily found.

Mirror Lake - Just like the treasured mirror of a goddess of local legend, the clear water reflects the valley when the air is still of a morning.

Multi-Color Lake - The Multi-Color Lake (Duocai Hu) lies at an altitude of over 3,000 meters and has an atmosphere of peace and mystery. As the name implies, this lake is an intriguing mix of different shapes and colors.

Wolong Lake - A milky white travertine dyke lies in the midst of the lake and looks like a huge dragon lying across the bottom of the lake. This magic phenomenon gives the lake its name of Wolong Lake, which means Lying Dragon Lake.

The different shapes and colors of the lakes in Jiuzhai Valley provide a perfect geographical environment for the forming of waterfalls. There are 17 waterfalls at Jiuzhai Valley, amongst which Pear Falls, Nuorilang Falls and Panda Falls are the most famous. Pear Falls and Nuorilang Falls are both 300 meters wide, and Panda Falls is 50 meters wide. Jiuzhai Valley has more beautiful waterfalls than any other scenic area.

Each lake at Jiuzhai Valley possesses a unique beauty, as unlike the others lakes at Jiuzhaugou as it is unlike the lakes anywhere else on Earth. Each lake shines with its own unique color, as clear as crystal.

The forest at Jiuzhai Valley is also spectacular, and the leaves in particular seem especially unique. The most beautiful scenery appears at autumn, when the whole valley turns golden. The reflection of the forest in the lakes is so sublime that it makes people believe that they are in a fairy-tale world.
