If you want to make a birthday really special, there are certain things you need to do. You need to make sure you have something interesting happening on the day, you need to make sure you have a list of people who will add to and make the day as special as possible, and you will need to make sure you send out birthday invitations so these people know they are invited.

Advances in technology have meant that birthday invitations aren't given out as much as they used to be. While some people may think this is a bad thing, in fact it adds to how special these invites are now seen. It isn't the norm any more, as people will often instead send a text message or an email. Because of this, when you do get a formal invite it seems all the more special. This is one great way to make your big day stand out, and get people in the mood to come and have a good time.

So there are a few things you need to think about when you're preparing your invitation, the most important of which I'm going to go through now. First off, you need to think about the size and shape. While the shape is usually of a rectangular nature, you can vary this shape if you so choose. Depending on what you're doing at your birthday you can adjust this accordingly, but don't be different just for the sake of it. Often a standard rectangular card is perfect. If you want to be different, do it within the print design.

Size wise, you don't want your invite to be too big. Having said that, you don't want it so small that it's easily lost. A medium size card, around A6 size is best.

Next you have to think about the color and design. You can either choose to go down the traditional route of having some fancy text on a minimalist background, or you can go for a more fully developed design. If you're making them for a kids party for example, you may want to include pictures of the child's favorite cartoon character on their invitation. It's also possible to customize your invitations if you go to the right place, so having your own picture on the invitation is not out of the question.

When it comes to putting your birthday invitations together, all of these things need to be taken into account. You only have one chance to make the right impression with your invitations, so make sure it's the right one.
