You must show you've managed various types of projects. Even if some of the projects youve worked on don't seem impressive, list them anyway. Describing every project youve worked on adds depth and rounds out your experience. The main aim is to send the message that youre a well rounded project manager to anyone reading your resume.
Project Manager Resume Killer TIP: Dont have the experience you think you need? Why not volunteer to take on extra projects at work. This may mean extra work however, its an awesome resume filler.
Big Numbers
Often in projects we see some big numbers. It might be the size of the budget, number of resources or size of scope in effort; its these numbers that make our resumes stand out. Don't be afraid to pump yourself up a bit. Don't be afraid to quote some big numbers.
Project Manager Resume Killer TIP: If you cant show big budgets why not describe potential savings or sales as a result of your project.
Different industries
If you worked a number of different projects, chances are they are in different industries. Your aim in your resume is to make the person reading it believe youre dynamic and flexible. The more industries you can mention the more employers can see your diversity.
Project Manager Resume Killer TIP: IT projects in different firms are IT projects in different industries.
Certifications
Regardless of your beliefs about experience vs certifications, know that the more certifications you have the better off you are. However, sometimes we tend to list courses in the same section as certifications. This is fine but there is an important point you must consider. You must be able to support you certifications with evidence. Ive worked for accounting firms that use a forensic approach to check on you.
Project Manager Resume Killer TIP: Only show certifications if they are valid.
Getting these things right will put you on the right path and help you rise above other applicants
