A face book page or in other words a fan page is a page that you can design or make to help you do what you want. This could be for a certain subject of your choice or for a business or for your personal use. This is a one stop page where you can put all the information that you want to include in one place. It's almost similar to a Squidoo lens. A face book page can be created by anyone provided he or she has a face book account. There are several things that make face book pages important. These include a good ranking in search engines and the number of fans you can get is not limited like the limitation of 5000 friends for your face book profile. In face book you can open two types of accounts that is a personal account and a business account. For a personal account you get it by signing to face book as a regular user and establishing your own profile as a person while a business account is what you can turn your personal account if you don't want to continue using it as a personal account. For business accounts we have certain limitations for example they only display ads and face book pages only. With both personal and business you have the option of creating business pages. In recent days face book has introduced new pages on its list and many of these pages are essential in traffic increase to your business.

These new pages include the following.

a) A new Layout

When in the month of December there was an accidental push of this service and afterwards it was removed many people anticipated its return. This new layout is similar to that one of the new face book profiles and includes many of the applications that are in it. With the new layout we have the tabs at the top part of the page replaced and now it has similar side bar navigation to the face book profiles. There is also an additional top screen photo stream and extra info display. The page right has also been redesigned. There is the page that shows the pages admin if the admin deems it necessary. On the right side there is a section that indicates how many of the user's friends liked the page and what they liked in that page.

The layout presents a decent presentation of your page. It gives you the opportunity to use the photo stream at the top side to promote your brand effectively. To fans it's similar to what their profiles represent and they can use it very comfortably. It helps them see the useful information through the top and side bar navigation. Through mutual interests and shared friends users feel strongly connected to your page and this adds to the relevancy of the page to them

Through a feature called "Login as Page" it's possible for page administrators to easily communicate to all places on face book and at the same time posts, comments, and likes on different pages are presented as brands and not as individual admin. You are able to login in as the Page you are managing and share with the face book fans as the Page. Its however not possible to post comments on users status or on their walls unless such permission has been granted by the user through the privacy settings. A user who logs in as Page is presented with a completely different News Feed showing them important information from the pages they like. There is also the notification to page admin which is also an important update. A user who signs in as page is able to receive notifications for different activities occurring on their page.

The above new applications have enormous benefits for your brands. It gives your brand more say in your face book. You can now pose as your brand and post responses to negative publicity. Posing as your brand you have the opportunity to approve your partners Pages .News from other pages that are of concern to you will be relayed to your page through the News Feed view for Page admins. Through notifications you will be able to see what fans have liked and it also present you with a simple way of handling the activities of your site. Through this it's possible for your fans to easily interact with you besides giving a quick reaction to your brand.

c) Everyone Filter

This is a face book update that gives you the opportunity to get all the topics that are at the top and any hot discussion on a Page. They have now added an "Everyone" filter which you can select to give you the topics of your choice.

This allows you to see the conversations that people have liked and those that they liked and you can still participate in them with ease. Fans that also go for this filter option get the opportunity to know about any discussions that took place in your page.

d) Advanced admin controls

This is soon to be introduced and it will have new features on the control admin settings that will allow Admins to conceal posts that may contain words that are on your customized block list. For fans they will only have the opportunity to filter posts from every page or from every person but admins will be able to see those posts that are hidden.

This update will help admins monitor the activities of their pages easily and to disable harmful posts from other fans. It will also present an easy and better way to communicate for fans from the brand. These changes will be launched on 26th Feb on preview and will be fully operational by March 10 2011. During this review period it will be possible for admins to see how a switch to the new page layout will look and make a decision whether to go for it or not. If you decide to go for the new applications it will not be possible to revert back. It is believed that these changes and updates will make face book effective as a marketing tool and help marketers make money online using this social media site.
