The term "boho-chic" hit the media in the mid noughties, led by trend-setting celebrities Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, the Olsen sisters and Nicole Richie. Elements of hippy and folk combined in floaty skirts, often white, broad coin belts, furry gilts and sheepskin boots. An interesting history of boho in this period is set out in Wikipedia. One of the more curious parts of the story is the association of boho with the recovery in the fortunes of Britain's favourite retailer, Marks & Spencer (M &S). In 2005-6, M&S enjoyed a dramatic recovery in its fortunes as the result of the success of a range of women's clothing that owed much to the influence of boho.
