Bum Marketing is a phrase coined by Travis Sago and is the concept of selling products

on the Internet without a website, experience or out of pocket expense...and yes, Bum marketing still works!

You could say the backbone of Bum Marketing is actually using articles to drive traffic to a free website you have created with Squidoo, Hub Pages or a blog where the reader is encouraged to make a purchase through your affiliate link and you receive a commission.

There are easier ways to drive traffic to your site other than article marketing but most of these methods require the risk of capital...something a lot of "Bum" do not have.

When you write an article and submit them to online article directories you get traffic in a couple of different ways.

The first way is from the directory itself. People do come to article sites to read articles about specific things and they can find your article there to read. Also, those folks with newsletters and websites or blogs that need content can take your article from the site to use on their own sites so long as they keep your links active and give you credit as the author.

The third way you drive traffic is by getting your article indexed and ranked highly by the search engines. Most article directories you submit to will naturally have a higher page rank than your site and are therefore more relevant in the eyes of the search engines.

By simply having an article published on one of these online article directories, your article is given immediate relevance and page rank and can be shown on page one or two of the search results...this is totally cool when it happens and is by far the best way to get free traffic.

So, write articles and submit them to the top article directories and you should be driving traffic to your site in no time!

Yes, Bum Marketing still works and you should definitely give it a try if you do not have a lot of money to buy traffic...and there is no better feeling in the world than lots of FREE traffic from your Bum Marketing efforts.
