This may include women's shelters that can help to provide temporary assistance for both women and children who are victims of domestic assault. Some shelters may also help victims find legal advice if it is necessary to file a restraining order or press charges against their abuser. For cases that include sexual assault, victims may be encouraged to seek medical care and advice in order to help determine proof of assault.
