What is Email Marketing?

Email marketing is using emails to drive people on an email list to a certain website or offer of the person who has the list's choosing.


It can be a very effective method of traffic generation if you can gain the trust of the people on that list. This is usually done by over delivery of value and helping them out so that when you come to promote something to them, they are very eager to see what you have to offer.

When you have an offer or something to say to the people on your list, you simply write one email explaining that you have something they may want to check out and see if they're interested and then send it to everyone on the list.

It can be very lucrative if you have a very responsive list and you want to send out an affiliate offer. You could send out the offer to lots of people and then wait for them to make the purchases and you get the commission.

This is not spamming as you have gained permission with a double opt in, so the person has said "Yes, send me the information and put me on your list". Plus, when done the correct way, you are sending them lots of information and ideas that can help them and that they will hopefully find useful anyway.

In order to get that list, you would create a webpage where you can give them something of value in return for their email address, like an eBook about the niche you are marketing to. If you give them something that they can use to gain knowledge from and help them in their endeavours, you will firstly gain their trust, and secondly make them want to give you their email. And once you have that trust, they are more likely to give your emails their attention in the future.
