While meditating it is always suggested to forget everything else and relax, this is not possible initially but gradually one can. There may be many barriers and obstacles to this seemingly effortless task. Our mind tends to wander naturally. If we even try to completely focus on anything for more than a few seconds, regular thoughts in regards to our day to day activities take over the game.

During mediating your mind will likely distract more in the beginning. But with time it will get better and more focused.
Finally, you should add enjoyment in your practice. Even though it may be tedious task in the beginning but daily meditation can greatly enhance your life. Practicing Mediation can help you escape all odds going on in your life.
