Deer Fencing is invaluable for keeping away the woodland fauns, stags and does. But, a good perimeter deer fence -- if properly constructed -- can also keep away many other kinds of garden pests, from smaller digging creatures to those who like to climb.

Burrowers

Burrowing animals such as squirrels, gophers and rabbits can be kept out by simply adding one more feature to the bottom of a deer-repellant fence. That is a perimeter. When constructing the fence, simply install the mesh below ground for about one and a half feet. That will prevent the animals from digging beneath the fence. And keeping these smaller animals away will mean a huge savings when it comes to vegetables for your table.

Raccoons and Opossums can burrow and climb, making them a dangerous pest around your house and garden. Of course sturdy deer fencing will keep the cloven-hoofed deer and other such animals away as well. A tall deer fence, with the top angled outward, will keep deer and goats from jumping over and wreaking havoc.
