This is because retailers do not always stock the spares and will only place an order on request.
On the other end of the spectrum are products that are difficult to sell via the internet. For instance, any product that requires one to taste, smell or touch it before making a decision to buy would not be easy to sell online. Merchandise that would ordinarily require a fitting test before buying would not be easy to sell on the web.
That said, while there products that are a hard sell over the web, there are online entrepreneurs that have managed to successfully turnover substantial sales online for products that would ordinarily be difficult to sell. To achieve this, such entrepreneurs develop creative marketing, product presentation and selling techniques.
In addition, internet users are not homogenous. Internet users cover the entire spectrum of age, gender, faith, profession, nationality, academic credentials, preferences, temperament and political views. By identifying the needs of a particular segment of internet users, it is possible to sell a product that would be require a lot more effort in order to sell to the larger audience of internet users.
For that reason, intensive research on consumer behaviour and preference will better prepare one to carve a niche for their product.
