Since many years ago, webmasters have been commenting on blog to increase their backlinks. Besides increasing the backlinks, blog commenting can drive a lot of referral traffic to the site. When people read the comments, they will click on the link to learn more about your website. There are a number of things you should avoid while doing blog commenting.

You should not attempt to bold the comments. Using the bold attributes to highlight your comment will not makes people visit your website. To catch people attention, you should write an interesting comment. Using bold attribute to highlight the content makes people feel that you are desperate for traffic. It can ruin your company image because it gives people an impression that you are lacking of customers.

In the comment box, there is a field that allows you to enter your name. By entering your name in the field, you are signing the comment. Therefore, there is no need to put your name at the end of the comment. It can annoy people if you sign your comment. The information is redundant since you have already entered your name in the comment form.

You should never include multiple links in the comment. The comment form has a field that allows you to insert a link to your website. You can only insert one link in the comment. It is not recommended that you include link in the comment. People will get an impression that you are trying to spam the comment section. The moderator will remove your comment if he found out that you are including links in the comment.

It is a mistake to not read the post before submitting your comment. If you don't read the post, you will never know what it is all about. You should never attempt to rewrite the comment that are already published under the post. Instead, you should read the post and write a unique comment about it. Your comment must contribute to the post. The comment should consist of 2 3 sentences. Leaving a short comment such as "Great!" or "I love your information!" or "Thanks!" are generally considered as spam. These types of comments does not contribute to the post so they will be deleted.

If you point a link to a post in a blog, the system will automatically send a trackback to the comment section. Sometimes, the trackback function is not working properly so you have to leave a second comment that includes a link to the article.

You should only comment on do follow blogs. The links on do follow blogs will be followed. You will know if a blog is do follow if it has a banner that says "Do follow". If not, you can right click on the link in the comment and select Properties menu. If the Properties menu states it is do follow or new window, it means that the blog is do follow. If the Properties menu states it is external_nofollow or nofollow, it means that it is a no follow blog.
