This tropical paradise, known as the Valley Isle draws a magnitude of visitors from around the world to soak up its fabulous ocean views, pristine beaches and breathtaking skylines all while offering a dramatically unique island experience. Festival events in Maui are plentiful, celebrating everything from onions and brew to film and cultural arts all in the spirit of the islands native heritage. The Aloha Festivals scheduled to be held in September is the oldest and largest cultural celebration in the United States and honors the Hawaiian culture in an effort to preserve unique island traditions. Theme for the 2010 event is Mele Ailana: Celebrate Island Music in honor of the inspiration held fast through chants and songs over many generations.
Thumbing through a Maui Visitors Guide, travelers will see September is also an exciting month for endurance sport enthusiasts as runners converge on the island for the Maui Marathon Race Weekend, scheduled for Sept. 17-19, 2010. Recognized as one of the most scenic courses in the world, the 5K trek passes moonlit sugarcane fields while traveling along the Pacific coastline and through the historical fishing village of Lahaina. Not up to a full 17K? This weekend includes a variety of other running and even walking events including the Maui Half Marathon, the Warrior Challenge and Go Red for Women Walk.
