Whats The Big Deal About A Home Water Filter System?

Chances are pretty good that you have been exposed to all of the fuss surrounding a home water filter system

. You are also probably wondering what the big deal is; dont municipal water treatment facilities clean the water for us? Isnt investing so much money in a home water filter system a waste of money? The answer on both accounts is a resounding No.

The home water filter systems are those that purify drinking water and delivers refreshing, non offensive tasting drink without all of the nasty contaminants in it that tap water has found to have had. Did you know that chlorine is put into our water to kill off harmful bacteria? The problem with this is that chlorine is very harmful to the human body, and it has been linked to different types of cancers. Did you also know that researchers have identified more than 75,000 different toxic substances that have the potential to find their way into our tap water?

Here is something else to think about if you are unsure about purchasing a home water filter system: The most common contaminant in tap water is dissolved toilet tissue! Thats right toilet tissue that has been used and flushed down the toilet. There are some cities and areas that use reclaimed water for their tap supply because the supply of fresh water on the planet really is dwindling. What is reclaimed water? You can probably guess. It is the water that is flushed down our toilets and is then cleaned by municipal facilities and delivered right into our drinking glasses at the taps in our homes.

Reverse osmosis and distillation are popular types of purification, and these both were initially developed for industry use but then adapted for home use. However, they do not fully get rid of herbicides and pesticides. These systems have issues with filtering out certain bacterias and they are incompatible with the molecular size of these contaminants. To make up for these deficiencies, a carbon filter system has to be used along with it, which means you guessed it that it will run you a pretty penny to have these two systems installed in your home.

There is hope, though, for finding a system that does a good job removing toxins without stripping the good minerals out of the water supply. If you want a home water filter system that seems to do the best job, you may want to try filters that are based on a new technology called multi stage filtration.
