When Can I Expect To See Results From My Liposuction?

However, the time for the recovery period often remains about the same for each individual case.

Patients can often return to their normal day to day lives between two days and two weeks after surgery. Any pain or discomfort is usually treated with over the counter medication and depending on the procedure used it can last up to two weeks. The side effects immediately following liposuction may include swelling, bruising and minimal scarring.

A bandage or compression garment is normally worn for two to four weeks following the procedure. The patient may experience some limited mobility depending on the extent of their sugery but is generally able to become active between the following two days and two weeks.

Results are seen immediately after surgery but may be minimized depending on the amount of swelling and bruising. These add to recovery time until desired results are shown. Skin often becomes loose in the treated area and the maximum results are normally seen up to 6 months after surgery when the skin has tightened. Other comestic surgery's suggested for tightening skin after liposuction may include a mastopexy (breast lift), abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), a lower body lift, thight lift or buttock lift. These may be combined with liposuction to refine the shape of the body.

Scars are minimized and hidden in unnoticeble areas. With new technology the size of the cannula (the hollow tube used in Liposuction) has become smaller and less intrusive. The scars from liposcution are typically no more than a quarter of an inch. The incision will only be made in the target areas treated and are large enough for the tube to be inserted.

Optimal results following liposuction may take up to six months after surgery to be visibly seen. The skin tightenes and the body adjusts to the loss of fat in specific areas. However, clients must adhere to an excercise rotine and a healthy diet for permenant results. Removing excess fat from target areas of the body can refine your body shape but it will not change your metabolic rate and lifestyle choices. To see long lasting reults from liposuction patients must mantain an active lifestyle and healthy living choices.
