Dandruff can be referred to as the pesky white flakes of skin that is shed off from the scalp and appears in your hair. Some unfortunate people develop chronic dandruff and this is an embarrassing situation because it makes them self conscious, unattractive and unprofessional.
There are three main causes which makes this situation chronic. Firstly the sebaceous secretions or the oil glands becoming overactive, the effect of micro-organisms like fungi and bacteria which grow on the scalp, and the third is the genetic predisposition.
There are some natural home remedies that help in the treatment of dandruff. Firstly, the diet should be balanced in such a way that it does not trigger off the sebaceous secretions. Care should be taken to reduce the skin oil so that healing takes place from the inside out.
Aspirin is a good remedy for dandruff. Two aspirin tablets should be powdered and added to the shampoo and nicely massaged on the scalp. It should be allowed to stay there for some time and then washed off with lukewarm water.
Aloe Vera gel or paste should be massaged into the scalp half and hour before taking a shower for better results. Olive oil, coconut oil, etc can be made slightly warm and massaged in the scalp and left to get soaked for at least 8 to 9 hours. It is better if the oil is massaged the previous night and washed off the next morning.
Fenugreek is an age old remedy and has proved to give positive results in the cure of dandruff. A handful of fenugreek seeds should be soaked in water the previous day and then grinded and made into a fine paste and applied on the head. It should be left for sometime on the head before it is washed away for better results.
