This allows you to get the best information all in one place, but one thing to check first is that the site is not run by any particular hotel chain.

You kind of want to make sure that whatever information that you are getting, especially reviews and critics are independent and are from real customers. Of course, that isn't always 100% easy and accurate because really, anybody could post a review online if they want to. There really is no way to be sure they have actually used the hotel in question. But most of the time these reviews are truthful.
