White Stuff

White Stuff started as a dream of two College friends

, Sean Thomas and George Treves while vacationing in the French Alps. They had conceived the plan of selling t-shirts the funds of which they would use to be able to stay in the Alps and ultimately not return to University anymore. From t-shirts they moved to making tees, sweats, fleeces and all kinds of mountain wear.

The 90s proved to be a good decade for George and Sean as their first shop was opened in 1991 just off the Northcote Road in South London. In 1993 their first mail order catalogue followed and was a big success as it featured 'real people' as models. Until then White Stuff had only been making clothes for men although women have been wearing them as well. In 1996 White Stuff womenswear was launched. The very first linen dresses from the womenswear were sold out in a day. Since 'Girls Stuff' was becoming as popular as the men's line of clothes. It was not long before 'Boys from the White stuff' became known as 'White stuff'

In 2000 they launched their website, and it is on this website that you can enjoy "lovely clothes for lovely people". The website is designed in the image of fun and comfort. White Stuff has won a number of awards including the 'Drapers Retailer of the year '09' and 'The Sunday Times Top 100 Places to Work'

In 2010 White Stuff celebrated their 25th year and silver jubilee, to celebrate they went on a tour of the UK visiting schools and charity events to raise money for their customers' chosen charities.

They believe in 'being different, making a difference and making the world a little happier'- they have committed themselves to giving back to the local communities and they have this objective with their tour. In the latter part of the year 2010 'White Stuff' foundation was launched. The goal of the foundation is to help disadvantaged children and young people in local communities.

25 years later, White Stuff continues its legacy of young, quirky fun through comfortable clothes. It is one of the trendiest stores on the high street and really does have lovely clothes (though you will have to make your own judgment on "lovely people"!). If you've never been to the website or in store, then you really are missing out as the range and the quality is superb.
