Unless you happen to pick a ski resort or some other winter hotspot for your wedding, you can make some pretty serious savings with your banquet facility. Your standard level of fanciness in a banquet reception can typically run to about $8,000 for a wedding affair with 150 guests. But that's for a spring wedding; move it over to January, and if you live in a place like Massachusetts, Michigan or Iowa, you can typically expect to pay no more than $5000 for the same thing. In states that stay warm the whole year around - Florida or California, you still do have a chance at making some impressive savings with a winter wedding. But you need to act to get your place booked at least four months in advance. If you pick a time when there is no convention that's reserved a spot, you can typically expect a great upgrade for free - which means that you probably get an $80-a-plate dinner for each guest for $70.

If you've never asked about the price of a wedding photography package, you'll probably be shocked to learn that shooting a full wedding can easily cost $4000 for a mid-level package. But that's only if you take in a spring wedding. Move it over to January or February, and you can easily get $1000 off that sticker price. Limousine service with a fancy Escalade that will usually cost you $1000 for four hours could be yours for $800.

Not to mention, helping to balance out a wedding vendor's uneven datebook can actually feel a little satisfying.
