One way to learn about your mind is to know where the mind actually is. The mind is at the center of everything. A man is born with two things: the body and the soul, but the body and the soul can not directly communicate with each other. Our mind works like a buffer in between the two.

The body interacts with the external world. It is like a receptor to external signals. Whatever we see, feel, taste or experience are all signals coming from the external world and being interpreted by your mind sitting in your brain.

The soul on the other hand, is the God force. If you do not believe in God, you may as well think of Him as the total energy in the universe. Because of this presence in us, humans have grown the ability to be curious and to think. If there was no God force, soul or conscience (whatever you may call it) in us, we would only act based on instincts (External signals, impulses). The soul also interacts with our minds in order to express what is actually right for us.

To illustrate how things work, here is an example presented: It is a common scene in a family when the mother gets angry because the kid has done something wrong. She shouts at the kid or in some cases beats the kid. When the anger goes down again, she buys candy for the kid in order to make up for the shouting or the beating because she feels that it was wrong on her part. The reason the mother shouts at the kid at first is completely the work of our instinct (impulse). The body receives an external signal (When the mother sees that the kid did something wrong) and it does not resonate with her mind. Her mind reacts to the signal immediately to stop it from happening. However, when the soul sends a signal after a while, she realizes that it was wrong. If the mother had only known how she would feel after beating the kid, she would have forgiven the kid.

The point of this article is to reveal to you which signal you should give your priorities to. The soul is usually right, but it does not immediately react to the external signals because of the buffer of our mind. If you are in a situation wherein you have to react, you should not rush. Give it a little time until the soul reacts. This way, you will come up with the right decisions most of the times in your life, and remember that it is the small decisions that you make everyday bring success to you in the future.

Train your mind to listen to your soul more than to listen to your body, and react only when you are sure. This way, you will be more in line with the all powerful God force and success will knock on your door without you even knowing it.
