, record rain in the South, and record heat in the Northwest, and it's only early in the fall. However, the fact that it's early in the fall means that the stores are already beginning to look a lot like the holidays.

This means that most of us are thinking two things: 1) What do we get our loved ones? 2) How do we pay for it? Becoming a vendor of wholesale products is an answer to both those question.

Distributing products for a wholesaler is an excellent way to make extra money, either as a home business or just a little on the side to get you over the "interesting" times. Either way, having extra income never hurts, especially this time of year.

The trick to success in retailing wholesale products is finding a good and reputable wholesaler who can provide you with a product people want and/or need. Obviously being committed to what you're doing and able to sell well are important, but your ability to transmit hundreds of orders won't help your bottom line any if you're in business with the wrong person.

The wrong person doesn't necessarily have to be someone who intends to steal from you or defraud the customer, although that is the kind of "wrong" that one is most likely to run into on the internet if you aren't careful. However, it's also possible to find someone who has good intentions but cannot follow through.

Say you've decided to distribute non-lethal defense materials such as stun guns, pepper spray, home security systems and the like. This is something pretty much everyone needs right? (Many of those who don't are the ones we need protection from, so they aren't really in your customer base anyway.)

Home defense is a growth industry, especially in difficult economic times and an increasing number of people, for their own safety and that of those around them, do not really want to have something in the house that may go off accidentally and kill or maim. Non-lethal products provide that perfect balance. Assuming you can trust your wholesaler.

Some people just can't manage to have enough inventory on hand, or aren't sufficiently organized to send it out on time or are understaffed and aren't even certain they have the products on hand. This is not the kind of person you want behind you when you're trying to sell to your family and friends and their families and friends.

The same goes for a wholesaler who imports, buys, or makes shoddy products. Overnight delivery is no good if the product falls apart in the customers' hands and the only way to use it for defense is by throwing the bits at an intruder. They may get lucky and hit him in the eye, but that probably isn't worth the price they paid for the product.

However, with the right wholesale products and a reputable seller, you can do wonders. You can help protect your friends and yourself from threats both physical and financial.
