Why Chocolate Is And Isn't Good For You
If you were to ask anyone what their favorite guilty binge is
, they will say it is chocolate. People do not seem to get enough of chocolate; be it milky, white, fruity, they all go down very well with everybody. All that is needed is for people to discover how to enjoy chocolate without feeling guilty about it.
You know what? There is already something like that. Well, the benefits of chocolate are many like antioxidants, vitamins and such like but the main thing is that chocolate has some stuff that is not very good for our health.
What spoils everything with our chocolate is the way we treat it. We take the basic product and add loads of other things to it, like more butter, sugar, milk solids and so on. All this only helps to increase the flavor but cause additional trouble for us because it becomes extra fattening. Take dark chocolate, this is the only one that does not have all these extras added to it, and there is a good thing to think about.
Isn't it amazing that our bodies do not regard chocolate as food? Imagine this, when you eat a bar of chocolate alone, the body will just take the sugar and store it, leaving out the minerals and vitamins which it would not absorb.
It is not very common knowledge, but dark chocolate contains very high iron content; so the best complement food for it is blueberries which are rich in vitamin C. It helps to balance the nutrition and enables your body to absorb the iron from the chocolate effectively, and tastes delicious too.
If you combine other stuff to it like fruit or nuts to go together, it will start treating chocolate as food and that is how to get the full benefits.
The days I worked in the chocolate industry, I regularly ate dark chocolate accompanied with all sorts of fruits; like berries and nuts. When I performed a blood test it revealed that my levels of vitamins and minerals were very okay and did not gain weight at all.
This makes you know that chocolate eaten in this manner is quite good for you. Just do not insist on the fat laden milk chocolate bars but reach out for a dark chocolate with fruit and nuts, so now you can enjoy a treat without the guilt.
One very last thing, now that you know that it is even healthier; still it is no excuse to pig out, eat sensibly!
