Why Does it Hurt So Much that My Husband Cheated?
"My husband cheated and I can't, for the life of me
, figure out why it hurts so much." Sound familiar? It's something that many women in your shoes are wondering. You believe you should be angry or even numb to the fact that he cheated on you. You don't understand why you feel so hurt and betrayed.
The other emotions may come in the future but for the moment you need to wrap your mind around the reason that it does hurt so much that your husband cheated on you. There is only one reason it hurts so much. That reason is because you do still love your husband.
This is one time in your life where it's a good thing for the sake of your marriage that you are hurting. The fact that you still love him means there is hope that the two of you can work things out. That is, of course, assuming that you are willing to give him one more chance.
Moving Beyond the Pain of Your Cheating Husband
The pain will last for a little while but if you both work at it, you can move beyond the pain and begin to build your relationship. But there are a few things you need to keep in mind as you work things out. If you do these things you will avoid many of the missteps and mistakes that other couples in your position make.
1) Don't rush things. It's completely understandable. There is part of you that wants nothing more than to put the entire sordid affair behind you and move back on to life as you knew it before. The thing is life wasn't all that grand before. You just didn't know it yet. Instead of glossing it over, it is better to endure the pain a little bit longer so that you can really get to the root of the problem and do some serious relationship repair.
2) Don't hide what you're feeling from him. You might believe you are doing him a favor by hiding your hurt but you aren't. He needs to see that he really has hurt you. He needs to face the consequences of what he's done and he needs to really understand how much he risked by cheating. This will help him avoid making the same mistake twice to avoid causing you more pain like this, if for no other reason.
