Why Is Employee Empowerment So Important?

The best way for any business to succeed is to recognize that employees are the ones

who provide value that can in turn be presented to customers and then to the community. Employees need to be treated with respect and valued for their contribution and opinions- after all, they are the ones doing the work on the front lines, and they usually know best what needs to be done and how to do it!

People are also most productive when they have a sense of dignity, self-esteem, and self-worth. Employees need to know that their work is not only important, but also appreciated. Their experience has given them the ability and judgement needed to make quick and important decisions that can have direct as well as indirect implications. Having a stake in the outcome is also valuable.

Additionally, and equally important, is the fact that health and happy employees will most likely provide the company with a solid future. They will also save the time and money that would otherwise be required to train new employees if the old ones are forced to leave.

It may seem like it would be easy to take advantage of workers in these tough economic times, but let us not forget that the employer/employee relationship is always one of mutual benefit.


Rewards and ceremonies are a good way to celebrate accomplishments. They are also a good reminder that quality is an ongoing process-rather than saying if it aint broke, dont fix it, continuous improvement is a better goal.
