The surgery is popular among celebrities. It seems like just about everywhere you turn, you hear gossip about which Hollywood stars or starlets have gotten this surgery. A wide variety of stars ranging from music celebrities like Beyonce to movie stars like Jennifer Love Hewitt and Catherine Zeta-Jones to wrestlers such as Dwayne Johnson (also known as The Rock) have been rumored to have undergone this procedure.

However, it is not only the rich and famous who are interested in this surgery. An increasing number of middle class people are getting this surgery. As time goes on, this surgery is becoming less and less of an anomaly. It is becoming more and more common to see ordinary people get the surgery for everyday weight problems.

As might be expected, this surgery is somewhat more popular among women than among men. Roughly ninety percent of all lipoplasty patients in America are women. However, there seem to be signs that more men are beginning to be interested in this procedure. Liposuction is by far the most popular cosmetic surgery among men, and a growing number of men are turning to this surgery to improve their appearance.

So why is this surgery so popular? One of the reasons is that it is so versatile. Unlike a number of cosmetic surgeries, which only treat one certain part of the body, liposuction can be performed just about anywhere on the body. For example, rhinoplasties (also known as nose jobs) are only popular among people who want to reshape their nose. Breast augmentations are by and large restricted to women. But lipoplasty appeals to just about anyone who has a little bit of extra fat, no matter where it is.

The surgery is also popular because it tends to cost less than many other forms of cosmetic surgery. Although its price is still measured in terms of thousands, not hundreds of dollars, it is nonetheless typically less expensive than boob jobs, nose jobs, tummy tucks and a host of other cosmetic surgeries.
