Why Is There Always A Lizard In The Bathroom? And Other Holiday Phenomena's

There are always some things you can guarantee you'll be witness to on holiday

, whether its exotic breaks to faraway destinations, cheap holidays in Lesvos or a family break in Spain. The reasons why you see such sights is unknown but it always makes me smile thinking about them! Here is a short holiday sight phenomena list to get you started on thinking of your own.

1) Stranded Towels By the Pool at 6am

The sun is barely poking its head up and the hotel is just starting to cook breakfast yet you can guarantee they will already be in place. Standing proud waiting to be reunited with their rightful owners are the beach towels that are sneakily placed on the best sun loungers reserving them for the hardcore among us. I am never awake early enough to partake, thank goodness!

2) Erratic Taxi Drivers and Cliff Edges

Transfer coaches, push bikes and mopeds all challenge the erratic taxi drivers on holiday for right of way. Coupled with your transfer coach taking cliff top bends as hair rising speeds makes the journey from the airport to the hotel somewhat terrifying.

3) T-Shirt Tans, Socks and Flip Flops and String Vests

The fashion police would be on compulsory overtime if they had to patrol the beach. The most punishable crime however can be spotted year after year at nearly every holiday resort across the globe. T-shirt tans are bad enough but coupled with a string vest and sandals with socks they are by far the weirdest holiday phenomena known to man.

4) Cockroach on the Balcony

You might not always meet on the balcony but most of us have come unnaturally close to a cockroach while we are on holiday. For me it happens when I am least prepared for it. On an evening while I am chilling out on the balcony while I wait for my friend to finish getting ready. My blood curdling scream usually brings her out just in time to witness it squeeze through a tiny gap in the corner of the balcony.

5) An Army of Ants Under the Sun Lounger

The last thing on your mind when you are relaxing on a sun lounger by the pool is the ground beneath you. Yet if you suddenly catch sight of it you realise you are right in the middle of a marching army of ants as they battle through the treacherous ground of beach bags, empty glasses and flip-flops. Their destination is unknown but they are determined as they pass through!

6) Lizard in the Bathroom

The classic one. You expect to see them on the way to the shop first thing on a morning sunning themselves at the side of the road. But for some unknown reason they always seem to find their way into your hotel bathroom and settle themselves down for the day about half way up the wall!

7) Sun, Sand and Sea

Lying on a soft white beach in scorching sunshine with beautiful blue waters are the one sight we see on holiday that means we will put up with all the above. Our precious time abroad is not even hindered by any of the above. We quite often put up with the lizards and bad fashions for that two week break in the sunshine.

Despite all of the above I love my time abroad. Year after Year I go abroad to enjoy the party atmosphere and the chill out by day and none of the above would ever put me off. This year the girls and I recommend looking for

cheap holidays in Lesvos, in Greece and I can guarantee we will be witnessing all of the above! I can't wait!
