Why Marketing Using Bots Doesn't Work

Do you ever wonder why these people keep 'following' you even when you are clearly not their target audience? It's because these Twitter accounts use bots to mass-follow people hoping these people would follow them back or that even just a quarter of them would look at the user profiles and check out their websites. Clearly their marketing style isn't working with you so obviously it is not the same approach you want to use in your business.
Social media are tools for socialization- they are there forgetting to know your clients, understanding their needs, establishing a brand that is relevant to your market and keeping in touch with customers. If you use bots for online marketing then you are not making personal connections. Without personal connections there is no sense in using social media for marketing. If you refuse to invest the time in social media then you might as well simply advertise. The power and the beauty of social media is that they serve as two-way communication channels. More than providing companies with the opportunity to broadcast information to many users, social media allow companies to also gain information from the market that they can use for their business. Before the emergence of the internet and social media there were no traditional media that offered companies the ability to complete the whole cycle of communication with a wide audience instantaneously. The complete cycle of communication entails receiving feedback or an answer to a message that was transmitted. With traditional media, a message is broadcast or transmitted to an audience but the transmitter of the message did not get instant feedback from the audience.
With bots, the communication cycle is also not completed.There can be a breakdown in the cycle at some point because if a client chooses to engage the company in conversation, an auto-bot clearly cannot respond appropriately. The power of social media as tools that can be used for communication is lost.
The best way to engage in social media marketing is to have a living, breathing human to manage your Twitter and social media accounts.Humans have the capacity to take full advantage of social media. They have the brains and the heart to respond appropriately to an audience. Hiring a virtual assistant is just one of the options business owners have to effectively use social media in their business. A VA can create meaningful content, add the right people on social networks and participate in discussions online. A bot cannot do any of these. A bot can add thousands of people online daily but it may not be targeting the right people for your company. So that your social media efforts are not useless, you should be doing targeted actions.
