Why My Toshiba Satellite C655 Shut Down Without Any Warning
Many laptop users may have experienced such issue
, the laptop shuts down suddenly. Yes, it is a common problem for laptop. Recently, I am tortured by this issue.I owned my hp pavilion g6 july last year. It has been working for a long time. However since last week, it will shut off automatically. I am a computer illiterate, so I need to seach this issue on google and ask help from expert. From endeavors, I collect the following reasons and solution for this common problem.
Possible Causes:
1) My
Toshiba Satellite C655 ac adapter is malfunctiom.
2) My Toshiba Satellite C655 dc power jack is loose or dead.
3) My Toshiba Satellite C655 is overheating.
Solutions:
1) For charger's malfunction. We may borrow a toshiba satellite C655 charger from our friends or purchase a new one from online store which is fast and cheap to check it out. If another charger can't change the situation, that means the real issue is not lying in your laptop power adapter.
2) For troubleshooting loose dc jack, you may try the following step:
If you have to wiggle your laptop ac adapter on a position to let it plugged in, it is confirmed that your laptop power jack is loose or dead. Meanwhile you may fix it by yourself on the basis of the following instructions article. The premise is that you are good at tech. Otherwise you are required
to take your laptop to a tech center for examination.
3)Indications of laptop overheating problem:
1The keyboard and the bottom of your laptop are very hot when the laptop is working.
2The CPU fans are working all the time at maximum rotation speed and operate much louder than before.
3The laptop suddenly shuts down by itself without warning. When it just started, the laptop was shutting down after 1-2 hours and how it shuts down after 5-10 minutes of operation.
4The laptop works fine when it runs idle, but shuts down as soon as you start using any memory demanding applications (DVD player, image editing software, video editing software, etc.).
And Possible Solution:
If the CPU heatsink is not clogged with dust and lint completely, you can use canned air and just blow it inside the laptop through the openings on the bottom and on the sides. Its nice as a precaution measure, but it might not work if your laptop already has a problem and the heatsink is completely clogged.
1Open the laptop case, so you can access the CPU fan and the heatsink. In some cases you can access the heatsink through the latch on the bottom of the laptop. Sometimes (for example Toshiba Satellite A70/A75) you have to open the laptop case all the way down.
2Carefully disconnect the fan cables on the system board and remove the fan. If the fan makes unusual sound when it spins (grinding sound), I would recommend to replace the fan.
3Clean the fan and the heatsink with compressed air.
4I would also recommend removing old thermal grease from the CPU and applying new grease for better heat conductivity.
