Why Natural Pain Cures Are Better Than Taking Pills
With millions of Americans routinely suffering with chronic aches and pains
, the most popular treatment approach is taking an over the counter or prescription strength medication. I was recently discussing this issue with a person in the internet. And his response was why should I use a chiropractor or try massage therapy or acupuncture when I can just take Ibuprofen? It is so much cheaper. Besides, I dont have any problems with taking the drugs, and if I ever do develop the problems Ill stop.
Theres a pretty significant flaw with that guys thinking. The problem is why wait until youve got irreparable damage to your body before you think twice about taking medicines? Why wait until youve trashed your stomach, your liver and your kidneys before the light bulb goes off over your head and you wise up to the realization that long term reliance of these pain medications and NSAIDs is bad news? It reminds me of the guy who smokes cigarettes for 40 years and then is shocked and befuddled when he develops lung cancer. I didnt know cigarettes were bad for me!
There is always multiple solutions to the same problem. And when it comes to managing chronic pain, there are dozens of different viable approaches. Some of these approaches may come in the form of simply eliminating certain foods you might be eating which puts the body into acidosis and thus causes an inflammatory cascade. This could include sugar, white flour, gluten, dairy, and an imbalance of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids. Another easy way to reduce chronic pain is to drink more water. People tend to be chronically dehydrated. And water is used to lubricate and protect the joints. By drinking more water (and less coffee, soda and beer), you will be able to flush out the toxins from your body and restore the proper amount of intra and extra cellular fluids. We need to also include regular exercise in any pain-management plan.
Perhaps the most overlooked aspect of chronic pain is to get your frame aligned by a chiropractor. Gravity never rests. It pulls us to the ground 24/7. And any kind of misalignment in the spine or pelvis (or a postural problem) will cause abnormal gravitational loading on the joints, discs, muscles and other connective tissues), thereby creating more stress and strain on those parts. By re-aligning the vertebra, getting the pelvis balanced, eliminating forward head posture and getting the rest of your frame aligned, you can live a pain-free lifestyle (and stop relying on popping Tylenol, Motrin & Aleve as though they were candy).
