We are all romantics at heart and each of us follow the same romantic traditions every generation

It is a tradition for lovers to use tokens, such as promise rings or engagment rings, to remind each other of their beloved in their absense. Additionally, the token is used to demonstrate their devotion to one another, to announce to the public their commitment and to remind themselves of their mutual affection.

Some experts say that a woman's brain is wired to seek a male for protection, status and security. By wearing a promise ring or engagement ring, the woman is announcing to her peers that she has been successful in attracting a mate and the more expensive the ring, the more likely that the male is of higher status and hence who can provide more protection and security

While humans have come a long way from our origin, we still enjoy communicating our status to one another using symbols - such as diamond promise and engagement rings. Men who are considering buying a promise or engagement ring for their sweethearts will do well to consider not only what message they are sending their lovers - but also, what message the gift will send to other women.

Promise rings are given to represent the the relationship between two people and their mutual desire to care for one another. Couples tend to give each other promise rings to signify friendship, "going steady" or to indicate that the couple is living together. The promise ring is usually the prelude to the eventual engagement

Engagement Rings are usually expensive and specifically created with a diamond as the center piece. Promise Rings are less expensive but usually feature a small diamond or cubic zirconia. The diamonds can be set in heart shaped ring or just as a simple solitaire setting.
