Few superheroes can hold the attention of audiences the way Spiderman does
. Comic book stories, and superhero's are in the height of their popularity, and Spider-Man has been one of the most influential figures of the genre. Spider-Man's popularity can be attributed to his transformation from "average Joe", Peter Parker, to the crime fighting superhero, Spiderman.
Peter Parker was an ordinary kid, until his parents were killed, effectively making him an orphan. He would go on to live with his aunt and uncle, who would raise them as if he were their own. The fact that Peter Parker was an orphan growing up, establishes a sense of pity for the character. Fans can't help but cheer on Spider-Man, due to his tragic upbringing.

This hits home to fans, getting a spider bite is a very common occurrence that anyone can relate too; spiders are also a fear for many people.
