Why The Illegal Cooking Still Is Found On The Table?

Illegal cooking oil has raised much attention of people from many fields in society

. Actually the illegal cooking oil, or sewage oil, does not merely refer to the oil refined from the kitchen wasters in the sewage; it refers to any oil made and used in illegal ways. Illegal cooking oil also includes the recycled oil, slop oil, and oil refined from leftover bits and pieces of animals, since it almost contains no nutrition but damaging factors instead, so it will bring a lot of risks to the health. The risks of these illegal cooking oil is not merely caused by the sewage, but also caused by being heated for too many times and being oxidized. The oil, after being heated for several times, will do serious harm to the organs such as the stomach, the intestines, the liver and the cardiovascular. In this case, diseases such as fatty liver, high blood fats, high blood pressure, stomach trouble, obesity and even heart diseases and cancers will follow. However, although more and more people become aware of the damages of the illegal cooking oil, why it is still found on the table? Three factors have contributed to its widespread.

The first factor is that there is no effective measure to tackle the kitchen wastes from the restaurants. In many cases the owners of the restaurants have to topple over the wastes into the garbage bins, or they sell the wastes to the illegal cooking oil producers to make great profits. But if there are legal channels in which they can sell these wastes and earn some money, these illegal producers will no longer have the raw materials.

The second factor is the ineffective supervision and regulation. Usually the oil is produced in some workshops located in remote areas, thus it is more difficult for the relevant official bodies to detect these spots. Meanwhile, the illegal producers can also transport the illegal cooking oil without undergoing much check by the officials. Meanwhile, even though some produces are proved to be guilty, the punishment is usually not very harsh. They are usually fined and the enforced to close down their workshops. They can afford the fine because they have earned great profits; they can reopen another workshop if the first one is closed. So the cost of committing relevant crimes is too cheap. This will encourage more to participate in this kind of crimes.

The third one is that ordinary people are lack of knowledge of how to distinguish the legal oil from the illegal oil. As long as they are lack of relevant information, they are unable to expose the criminals involving in the illegal oil industry even when they are consuming the illegal cooking oil.

In a word, it is urgent to tackle with the wide use of the illegal coking oil; anyway it is a basic right for people to take in healthy foods.
