Why The Praxis Ii Math Test Matters

In order for you to be eligible to take the teacher licensure

, you must pass the Praxis test, including the Praxis Math exam. A passing mark is required for all the three tests that make up the Praxis so that you can go on and take your much needed teacher certification.

The two other tests in the Praxis are the reading and writing tests. These tests are comparably easier than the math test. Not everyone is good at math and for those who want to get a passing score on the math exam, you have to do some preparations for it.

To prepare for the exam, you may go to your local college and enroll yourself in a refresher math course. You won't earn any credits for this class and how you do in it won't affect your overall grade point average, so you don't have to worry about doing poorly in this class. Take it as a review for all the math principles you've learned in the past.

Answering practice tests and going through study guides is an essential part of getting ready for your exam. You can get these practice tests and guides in a major bookstore near you or online. Always get the latest editions of these guides so that you will have a good idea of how your test will be structured.

A tutor can also help you study for your exam. Consult someone who is good at math or deals with math on a daily basis for the problems that are complicated for you. Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of hiring a tutor and see if doing so will really help you.

More importantly, you have to do your side of the equation. You must be diligent in studying for the exam because the best tutor won't be able to help you come exam time. Your grade on the test depends on your ability to answer it, therefore if you don't study; you are more likely to fail it.

Do at least two math problems everyday before going to bed and focus on the problems that are hard for you. Practice is always the key to getting a good score on the Praxis math exam. Do not forget, however, to take the time off during the weekends to give your mind a break. When the test day comes, be confident about your math skills and answer the questions to the best of your knowledge. Be sure to answer the easy ones first and work your way to the more challenging questions.
