Other similar shots such as the loop kill and the hook can also be learned from a good table tennis video. The slice, chop, push-block, drop shot, kill spin, lob are all defensive moves you should learn.

Why buy a video instead of reading a book? You can do both, but if it is one or the other, the DVD will probably "serve" you better. A good table tennis video will really hone in on the skills you want to learn most. Some videos even offer a super slow motion feature so you can take in every detail of a grip and shot.
