Why Your Home Needs A Cotton Area Rug

Cotton Area Rugs are just as precious as any other part of your house

. It is a great design element for your living room and cotton material rugs give a sense of warm welcome to visitors and guests. This is not surprising as it is better to feel cotton rugs rather than the cold floor during winter days. They come in all sorts of designs and sizes just for that specific area on your home so it is very easy to have one, but it is not that easy to preserve its beauty.

It seems like common practice for little children to spill food and drinks on to your area rugs. Aside from that, dogs and other animals frequently find it a good rubbing spot for their fur. And if this isn't enough, some disgraceful guests often find area rugs a good place to wipe snow and mud off their feet. Dirt and grime can be disastrous on a cotton surface and is very hard to remove. But if you use these cleaning tips you may find cleaning your Cotton Area Rugs a lot easier.

When foodstuffs or drinks spill off on your area rug, remember that the sooner you clean that spot the less stain it will leave and the easier it is to remove. Use dry cloth to pick up the food stuff or to dry off the stain on the area rug in case some drinks spill. Then dab the stain with a wet cloth to completely clean it off the rug. Always be hasty in cleaning the area rug of stains. When you leave the stain to dry it may leave a dirty looking, unpleasant stain on the rug that is very hard to remove by hand or if you don't want to do it by hand you need to employ a professional cleaner which could cost you thousands depending on the type of treatment they'd use.

Some smaller area rugs can even be washed in the washing machine. But of course you should follow the instructions that are indicated in the area rug. It should be located on the under side of the rug.

If dabbing the area rug with a wet cloth does not do the trick and the stain remains, try soaking the area rug in warm water with mild soap. Cotton is very sensitive and will often fade if the wrong type of soap is used, so make sure that you use only mild soap combined with a fabric softener to preserve the delicate texture of the rug. Scrub it but not too hard as you may scrub the small fibers as well and ruin the design. After washing make sure that you rinse the soap well by using a water hose and thoroughly remove the soap and fabric softener from the rug. Dry it out by hanging it outside in the sun but make sure that you don't wring or twist the fabric. Wringing and twisting the Cotton Area Rugs can deform it as well as damage it.
