Why a career in pharmaceutical sales when you can find thousands of career elsewhere
? Such question warrant a simple features and benefits answer which I am going to spell out herein to the best of my knowledge; having being involved in pharmaceutical industry for slightly over a decade.
Here are some simple features and benefits of this career:
1. Clear sales process. What it means is simply this: you are given targeted customers to approach and how to approach them. As the sales force, you will be working closely with the marketing team in coming up with the relevant key messages and selling points for a product. All you have to do is to present them to your customers. This is so much better than having to do prospecting from the beginning, and using trial and error to craft sales message.
2. Sales training are provided. This means you will be exposed with the right strategy and technique to approach a customer thus increasing the chances for you to close a sale. In some companies, the training was so structured that it will be done according to the reps skill level or competency.
3. Flexible working time. Now, before you get a wrong idea, allow me to clarify this. Flexible time only applies to outstation field force most of the time, and for non-manager position. What this implies is actually you can choose when to start your day and when to end it. But you still must adhere to the company's rules and regulation. For example, if you need to make eight calls a day, you still have to fulfill it but when you do it during the day is pretty much up to you.
4. Relatively high perks. For some companies, a typical pharmaceutical sales rep could possibly register more incentives than their total annual salary payout. In fact, this is the reason why people want to do join sales. If you want to be satisfied with only basic salary, then desk job or admin job with Government would do.
