Why its better to repair rather than replace your broken TV

A new television can cost thousands, particularly if you're going for something top of the range and considerable in size

. It's not a purchase that people take lightly, especially in these difficult economic conditions. But, when a TV breaks down, many of us come to the immediate conclusion that it must be replaced.

There is, however, a more sensible alternative. Why not have your TV repaired?

Here are some of the top reasons for considering a repair before shelling out for a new and expensive television:

1. If the exhaust falls off your car, you don't head to the nearest forecourt ready to shell out for a new vehicle. Instead, we find ways to prolong their lifespan by having them repaired and serviced. The same approach could help your TV last for many more years.

2. As discussed above, buying a new TV is not a decision that we usually rush. We tend to read up on the latest models, trawl round retail parks and procrastinate over which one is the best. It could take weeks to get the right one, which means you could face weeks without a television. Even worse, you may end up rushing your purchase and getting something that you don't want. So, maybe it's a better idea to have your existing set repaired quickly and that way your time without a TV could be kept to a minimum.

3. You do, of course, have the option of repairing the TV yourself. But as the vast majority of us think giving the top of the set a thump, it's probably best to leave it to the professionals. A professional TV repair service will have experience in all makes and models of TVs, so the disruption to your life will be minimal.

4. Having your TV repaired if and when it breaks could work out cheaper than an extended warranty, so don't feel pressured into taking the additional coverage unless it's a really good deal.

5. You could go one step further and decide to rent a new TV. As well as being much cheaper than buying outright, you can have your TV repaired as and when needed as part of your contract.

So, before you panic buy a new model, consider if TV repair is a better option. And if you think TV rental could be the best option for your home entertainment needs, find a professional business as your supplier.
