The three main ski resorts in Bulgaria are Borovets
, Pamporovo and Bansko. Borovets is the oldest and largest Bulgarian ski resort. Standing at 1300m in the Rila mountain, it is a perfect ski resort for beginners and mixed ability groups who don't like crowded ski slopes. Pamporovo is a sunny ski resort situated at 1600m at the foot of the Snezhanka Mountain. The resort is famous for its excellent ski school and plenty of entertainment options that will please every kind of traveller. Bansko, which has been recently named the winter capital of the Balkans, is situated at 950m in the Pirin mountain region. Bansko is the premier ski resort in Bulgaria and many tournaments and championships are being held in the resort. For instance, Bansko is the official host of Ski world Cup men 2010/2011 which will take place in February 2011.
