Wii Console Hints and Tips

Here are some little known tricks about the Wii game console that you likely aren't

even aware of that can make your Wii console even more useful.

The first trick is something that has to do with one of the Wii's most famous games and characters, Mario. Whenever you are downloading something from the Wii shop, take a peek at the Mario character in the progress bar. Normally Mario is wearing red and blue togs, but if you notice he is dressed in red and white instead, by pressing the A button you can make him start heaving fireballs.

Another trick has to do with the photo channel and MP3 soundtrack support. You may have noticed that the update to the photo channel unexpectedly removed support for MP3 soundtracks. Don't worry, there is a simple solution to this problem and getting your MP3 support working again. Just go to the Wii settings and then enter Data Management. You can then select the "channels" tab and choose to delete the Photo Channel. This will not entirely delete the channel, but instead bring it back to its original 1.0 version, which will enable your MP3 support once again.

Another Wii trick is that you can actually email someone else you know that has a Wii from your Wii. You will need their "friend code" to do this, but once you have the code it is really quite simple. Just place a "w" in front of the friend code and then send to @wii.com. For example, you can send an email to w3210987654321@wii.com and your friend will get your message.

For those who enjoy the puzzle feature in the Wii photo channel, here is a secret that can enable you to try a more complex puzzle. The first thing you need to do is move your cursor over the number of pieces you would like to split your puzzle into. Prior to selecting the option, however, press down on the 1 button and hold it. This will explode the puzzle into 194 pieces, presenting you with the most challenging puzzle to piece together.

Did you know that you can also use your Wii remote to play games on your PC? Well, now you do. The Wii remote includes Bluetooth technology, which means that it can also work with your PC. If your PC has a USB adapter or built-in Bluetooth support, by downloading an application known as GlovePIE, you can begin playing games and even use your remote for watching movies. The GlovePIE support provides simple instructions to walk you through the process and enable your Wiimote for use on your PC.
