Winding Down At The Park

Thailand holds a certain pride of place amongst other South East Asian nations

, as it is the only country in the region that has never been colonized. As such, the country still retains strong bonds with its monarchy and many monuments dedicated to the royal family and past rulers can be seen dotted around Bangkok. Among these is the King Rama IX Park which is an exquisitely maintained botanical garden, right in the middle of the busy cosmopolitan city.

This beautifully landscaped garden is known among the locals as the Central Park of Bangkok because of its idyllic setting and the opportunity to enjoy some peace and quiet in the city. Located on an expansive 200 acres of land, the park was constructed to commemorate the Kings 60th birthday, which was celebrated in 1987. The Rama dynasty in Thailand is one of the most powerful in the history of the nation, with the family still claiming ownership to the Thai throne.

The centerpiece of the King Rama IX Park is the artificial lake that can be found in the middle of the garden. The lake is surrounded with tree-lined footpaths that allow visitors to take a leisurely evening stroll, while enjoying the cool breeze that drifts over the lake. Another highlight is the restaurant that offers alfresco dining. While the food itself is amazing, the scenic panoramas of the landscaped garden add to the pleasurable experience.

Being located on Si Nakharin Road, the King Rama IX Park is with in close proximity to many a Bangkok service apartment and other tourist attractions in the city. The President Park Bangkok, which is located exceedingly close to the park, offers its visitors excellent transportation links to explore the rest of Bangkok. Though the park is a favorite haunt of many Thais after a hard day at work, it also allows travelers the opportunity to break away from a hectic day of sightseeing and to enjoy a blissful evening of relaxation.
