A Windows installer error is a very common computer error that will pop up sometimes when you are installing a program on a PC

. Some of the error messages that may be written out for this error are:

. "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed"

. "Could not start the Windows Installer service on Local Computer. Error 5: Access is denied."

The error usually occurs in the early stages of the installation process because this is when a part of Windows known as MSI is accessed. MSI simply means "Microsoft Installer.

The Installer/Uninstaller

The MSI is the part of the software that interfaces with the Windows operating system and actually, makes the installation possible. The MSI is also the part of the software that is entered when the program is uninstalled.

When a Windows installer error occurs, it does so because of a problem in the operating system's registry. In fact, one of the old standby methods for repairing this problem involves entering the registry and altering the Windows MSI to the default value. The reason for this is because a previous installation changed the value in the registry. So, changing it to the default would be changing the MRI access to where it was before this program was installed. Using this method is nerve wracking because putting in the wrong value will cause more problems.

Cheap Easy and Quick

The Microsoft website shows how to unregister and re-register the MSI as a way of repairing a Windows installer error. This is done by accessing the "msiexec" area of the operating system. Yes, this method will work, but I like to use the cheap, easy and quick method when I run into a Windows installer error.

The cheap, easy and quick method is to simply run a good registry cleaner. The installer problem is definitely a registry problem and a good registry cleaner will definitely fix it. "Wait!" I here you exclaim. "How can this method be cheap if I have to end up buying a registry cleaner?" Here's how:
