You can also use Windows password recovery software available on the Internet at a negligible price. Re-installation of Windows operating system is also a solution, but is not opted by many. This is because it deletes most of the useful personal data saved on the system.

If you have a password reset disk available with you, it can be used to reset your password easily. You can make this disk by the backup option available on the logon dialog box. To use this disk, start your system until the logon screen appears. As you don't remember your password, type a wrong password in the password box. Forgot password option will be displayed. Insert the password reset disk. Select the Use your password reset disk' option in the Forgot password options and press Enter to continue. Wizard window is displayed. Type the new password when, new password is asked. Re-enter the password to confirm that right password is entered. Press Enter to change your login password.

If you have not got the reset password CD, then you can reset the Windows password using the administrator account. To login using the administrator account start your system and wait for the logon screen to appear. If the screen is Windows classic style you will get a user dialog box. Type administrator in the user name and press Enter to login to the Windows. Once you login, change the password of your account and restart to login through your account.

If the logon screen is Windows XP style, administrator account will not be displayed on the logon screen. You have to boot in Safe Mode to show administrator on the logon screen. Press F8 on Start up to show the boot options. Choose Safe Mode and press Enter. When the logon screen is displayed, click on the administrator to login. After login, change your password in the Control Panel. Restart to login to your account.
