This process makes the wood more durable, and scratch and moisture resistant than other types of hard woods. Acrylic wooden floors are best for high traffic areas.

The look of wooden floors also depends upon the specie or type of wood used. There are more than 60 known species of wood that can be used in making wooden floorings. Type of wood used brings about variations in the shade, durability, and cost of the wooden flooring. Pine, red oak, birch, white oak, and Douglas fir are some of the common species of wood.
